Saluzzo..

Saluzzo: a small town an hour outside Torino. Went for a day trip with a colleague and his friends. Lovely sunday. So much to tell but too tired to write, later.

Torino continued..

Moved in to a new apt. on Sat. Much better than the last. The apt. is partly furnished so we headed to Ikea to get utensils, bedsheets, towels and whatever is missing.Ikea here is exactly the same back home in looks and stuff sold.

Torino at night is beautiful. All the lights and decos put up for the olympics were still hanging..so is the crowd. Mama mia is a pizza place near downtown Torino. After 2 hours plus of pizzas, coffee and 2 shots of something (just them). We headed to Blue Cotton- New York (never heard before in NYC). It's a club somewhere downtown and they played some Italian hits (which was not very well received by the crowd- was difficult to dance to).

Sunday was spent strolling downtown. An Italian couple saw that I was struggling to get a bus ticket to get into town, so they gave me one. That made my day. The weather was a bit cold and gloomy so I didn't manage to take good pictures but attempts made:

Torino in 3 days..

So far Turino is about food, coffee and men.

The meals are delizioso. So extremely delizioso :P. Lunch is a always a feast with either pizzas, pastas and always followed by desert and coffee. The regular lunch place is a restaurant called Night & Day and Alessandro (the guy beside me) always gets the menu about 11 am and so I get a detailed explanation of the menu before getting there. Today's lunch was tortaloni filled with cingaile (not sure if spelt correctly but it mean's boar) and tiramisu :)- the best tiramisu I've ever tasted. Last night, I bought some tomatos, strawberries, sausages and some cheese. Ahhh.. those tomatos and strawberries... juicy and sweet!

Coffee.. there's 2 vending machine in the office and everyone takes averagely 2 cups of expresso each day. Come into the morning.. and off to the machine for the first dose. Come back from lunch, second dose and then there are extra doses each time after a meeting. My average 3-4 cups of coffee (which seems like coffee water now) a day does not prepare me for the strong coffee here. I had to cut down to just 1 cup of cuppacino becuase it send me hyper the last 2 days.

Men... they are an expressive lot. Very local and expressive. It's entertaining just watching them. It's seldom that I see a group of men talk so passionately about food to shades to radio stations and ofcourse women and just about everything including their mum's cooking.

Then there is Allecio. Allecio is a 19 year old boy, my other housemate. He plays the piano every night and it's beautiful. It's nice to go home to sweet sounding music.

The scenary.. is still very brown. The weather is still very cold. I've not been anywhere besides work and apt.

Saturdays...

There is a party going on in New Jersey overlooking NYC. Although, I don't know Trent well, I'm sure I'm going to be missing a great party. The constant updates of NYC activities over US-NYC voice is making me very envious of those living there. And there's Hanna's bachelorette party coming up. I'm missing the girls (Jillo, JenH, Hanna, Paolita, SuzanneM, Simi) from @ office!

It's been a long time since I worked on a Sat. Today is one of those working days and I'm enjoying it. Life is good (but not fantastic) when I enjoy working. I'm flying to Torino on Monday; to a region I've not lived in..it shall be exciting.

The "Gan" (my surname) family extended to another generation with the arrival of my niece beginnning this week.. she hasn't got a name yet and she's has been sleeping almost all the time. Lazy baby!!

The knocking has stopped..

A 70 year old man is breaking down the wall of the office. I feel bad watching him, work that involves carrying hammer (specially a heavy one) should be left for the young men. Every knock he takes is a painful sound to my ears and heart. The wall is down..I can now continue to work in peace.
