Cambodia

my first impression of Cambodia from this trip was how unfortunately poor ppl in Siem Reap are. Some live in one room huts built from straws by padi fields. In this one room is the kitchen, dinning room and sleeping space. Outside this one room hut is another small hut with a hole at the floor; toilet. There is a communal tap for bathing and washing clothes. Kids ran around naked and barefooted becuase it's so hot & humid. Between these huts are "communal straw halls" where there are rows up hammocks for ppl to chill. That's what ppl do to past time.

At sunset every day in Angkorwat, as the tourist make their way out of the temples, the locals will start laying mats around the main pond to picnic after a long day of serving the "outsiders".

The australian in the bar had his 4th USD 1.5 redbull with vodka in one hour. He claims the same drink will cost him AUD 12 back home, so it looks to me that he was going to drink till he falls. He tells us that this place is unbelivably amazing and that was his second trip back becuase he lost his photos negatives from the first trip. On the walls of this bar, one person writes.."take me to the moon as there is no place between here and moon".

Lord Murugan?!

Thousands of Hindu devotees gather in Batu Caves, Malaysia to celebrate Thaipusam. The devotees belief that Lord Murugan prevents them from pain and bleeding..

Watching in awe as metal pierces the skin with hardly any bleeding and, apparently, no pain as the devotee stands in a trance in the dawn light after weeks of rigorous abstinence.

Devotees pierced their cheeks with long, shiny steel rods - often a metre long - and pierce their chests and backs with small, hook-like needles in penance.

No Torino in Feb.

Was suppose to be working from the HQ in Torino next week. Should have occured that all acommodations will be fully booked for the olympics. I had hope to at least witness the remaining games and the closing ceremony. It looked so pretty from the papers. The trip is postponed to March.

It's an expresso machine, not a cappucino. Silly of me not knowing how to differentiate them. All is good as long as I have my dose of coffee.

Last week, took a break before starting with the new company. The famed Angkor Wat behind us.

There is no coffee machine but there is a cappucino machine. I'll wait a couple days more to try it out. I'm getting a room again! yay, no more cubicles with partitions. The girls sits on one side of the building and the boys the other. There is a Japanese brazilian. Right now, I'm at the meeting room facing the entrance and am trying not to fall asleep
