I thought I lost my mind.

I seriously thought something was wrong with me last night. Just found out that it was the earthquake. I was working on my laptop in the living room of my 11th floor apartment building. Yeah, I felt the quake - first thought that came to my mind is that I must be illusioning something due to facing the laptop too long or my headphones were turned on a little bit too loud causing illusion! hahahah... then, I took up my glasses, still feeling it... and then I looked into my cup of water. Nothing... no circular movements like what it's supposed to be :). It was around midnight/ close to midnight. After a while it stopped but convinced that I was loosing my mind, shut off the computer and resigned to reading. Currently reading "100 years of Solitude" by Gabriel Carcia Marquez and loving it.

2 teeth less & Tomb sweeping day.

And I am ready for braces :). The orthodondist struggled with it, pulling it from every angle, shifting her body weight so she gets more energy from her tiny arms whilst making sure the roots does not break. And in 2 weeks more, my teeth would be barely visible behind those ugly grey metal pieces. Then the diet kicks in with no coffee, no nasi kunyit, no hokkien mee, no nothing that's going to leave a stain. This is probably one of the most committed things I've taken on in my 20+ years of age. A 2 year committment might be just too much.

Ching Ming...
Chinese ppl in Malaysia (me :)) celebrates Ching Ming(tomb sweeping day) on Feb 15th every year on chinese lunar calendar. Before dawn, family crowds ancestor's cemetary to pay respect. Family's from afar gather to clean the grassy grave on hills, pray and make food and paper offering (open burning of blessed paper) so that your ancestors up there has food to eat and money (the paper) to use :). Funny huh! It's really not something very fun, I will be baking under the hot sun tomorrow morning, cutting weed and saying hello to my grandpa whom I've not seen. It is believed that my grandpa was executed for being a traitor when the Japanese tries to invade Malaysia during World War 2.

Talents.. a lack independent free lancer.

One of the things that was listed in Dody's post about startups prompts this posting.

Yes, there is a lack of startups, lack of free lancers, lack of the talented ppl who knows how to market, build their own profiles, make their own profits out of their own skills. Instead, their work gets published by companies that slaves them (by paying them a higher wage) .

I say this becuase the thing called "internet" afterall is the greatest channel to market yourself. Its the best place to share your own portfolio to be sourced. I have seen the best works in universities/ colleges. But students don't know how to market themselves. They wait to be sourced.

The above is particularly refering to creative/ media talents. You gotta get out there becuase we don't find you :(.
