My first Spanish lesson.
Pao's mum found me Guillermo D- my first spanish teacher:
A: como estuvo la clase?
Kai: Era muy bueno.. yo quizás considere para aprender de él otra vez.
A: por qué?
Kai: aunque él hable realmente rápido y de ningún inglés, pero él me pensó algunas cosas hoy... y él es económico
A: muy bueno
Kai: Btw, yo utilizo www.freetranslation.com :P

I feel complete at this moment
Bogota is treating me well. As much as I miss NY, Bogota is the perfect setting for me to focus back on my career and personal life. Today, my life is regulated again and very much in contrast with life in NY. I wake up at 8.30, have breakfast and spend sometime practising my spanish, switch on my laptop & start working on codes, take a shower when my eyes starts to hurt from looking at my screen!....lunch, learn spanish, work... go out... I have not felt as free as now for the longest time.
Total contrast to being in NY: Wake up, run out the door, grab coffee from the deli, reach the office 40 minutes later, switch on my laptop... hears: "Kai! problem with the network...".
Today, I feel the drive to work, work, work. I don't think I can ask for anything more complete at this moment. Friends, love, food, work, sleep & rain feeds the soul.
After work, Paola and I might visit a friend who just gave birth to a baby girl :) !! I met her 2 years ago at my birthday party back in NY when she was still single, now she's got a baby girl! Ohhh :D .
Party en Bogota
went to Jorge's housewarming party last night which turned out to be an @ party. Most ppl were either @ alumns or ex-trainees or friends of the former. Funny how that turned out to be. Was good to hang out with Pao and Cabron again. Had aquateinte with sugar cane & cinnamon (Yummy :) !) and some Colombia rum that doesn't make me red. Pao suggests that we should import that into Asia.

No malaysian embassy in Bogota, expensive spanish classes in the university ( foreigners are asssumed to be rich.), it's winter in Bogota- it rains everyday ( I don't mind the rain, no big deal ) . Work is starting next week ( *sad*, holidays over, brain needs to function again)- I think I will enjoy it, my spanish vocab is increasing very very slowly, pollo, carne here tastes good, home cook food all the time, maid does my laundry ( :O ). Miss home but life is good here too. I am happy :). Chinese restaurants everywhere, need to learn to cook- everyone is requesting for oriental food from me- wish I had brought more seasoning here. Haven't contacted Aiesec- don't know if I want to. Tomorrow's Friday, will go and check out the night life here :). Living standard here is not as low as most ppl think. In Bogota, you will need at least USD 700- 1000. It's a safe country- it feels much safer than NY at the very least. Guerillas are not everywhere, only in the mountains in some small villages.

met up with Paola!! Good times :). We went to a little town outside Bogota for a party (La Calera), it's very pretty becuase the view of Bogota (which is huge!) from there is amazing, houses on the mountains looks romantic, kids playing soccer on the streets, horse carriages riding next to our car.. :) ! Saw a chiva too while descending from the scenic point (El Mirador). Juan took me to the 93rd Avenue- downtown area with a park and fancy restaurants around it. Slowly checking out the city.

I´m still on vacation :) !! Can´t quite believe it. In Barcelona right now- taken by suprise how different and beautiful the city is compared to southern Spain. Managed to meet up with Janice who happened to be here too :) last night. I´m exhausted from travelling but love this city.
In Egypt, we went snorkelling in the Red Sea. Wish my sister was here to enjoy it! Wish I dived too, the divers seem to be having too much fun. We also watch the most amazing sunrise in Mount Sinai. Have to thank Heba and her family for making the trip most memorable in Egypt.
Go to run! We´ve taken almost 400 photos in total :P.. hehe... , u will see it later :P.
spain and egypt...wonders!

death & accidents too many in the past months. Things are going so good for me, going on vacation, living in Colombia, I finally got my Australian PR, seeing my family.. but all these seems so secondary to wanting to be there for the ppl I love that has lost their friends, mum, dad, brother, cousins in the last months. I now pray for everyone around me.

I don't want to leave.. why am I leaving this wonderful place? I've been suprised and thrilled by the events this whole week in Lincoln Center (center for Operas, Jazz, Ballet, Philharmonic, Theather in NY). We saw The Frogs play (played by Nathan Lane- remember the Bird Cage guy?) yesteday at the Vivian Beautmont Theatre and Dallas Dance Club 2 days before at the free Out of Door event for this summer.I love being entertained, I love enjoying all the beautiful things in life, I love being happy, I love seeing talented ppl, I love seeing ppl do the things I dream of doing and sometimes don't !! If you're going to make it for the Flamengo performance tomorrow, try and go to Big Nick's for pizzas and burgers as recommended by Lyna (native New Yorker :)) after. The burger is yes, GOOD! Travel Plans: Tickets bought to Madrid and Egypt but can't get visa, we're in deep shit :( :( :(. This is bad, we need a miracle to happen now. Arghhh!

Google's much hyped about IPO: been questioning quite a while to a couple of ppl if they would invest in Google's IPO, came across this excerpt from an artical in Economist.Com which I found describes very well where Google's current stands and future is in the market. Here goes... might be a little long. Google makes most of its money from so-called sponsored links—discreet ads that come up with any search—and can do so because of its lead in search traffic and technology. But that lead is under threat. Until this year, Yahoo! used Google to power its searches, paying a licence fee for the technology. But Yahoo! has acquired a number of other search engines, and in February cut its ties to Google. Google’s share of all searches (including those on other sites using its technology) has fallen from 75% at its peak to around half, and Yahoo! is not far behind. Moreover, Yahoo! has a key advantage over Google: because of its vast base of registered users (100m people use its e-mail, travel and other services) it is in a better position to tailor searches to users’ needs. Microsoft poses a threat to Google too. The software giant is developing its own search service, and plans to integrate this into its Windows operating software from 2006. Google knows that if it is to stay ahead of Yahoo!, it will have to gather more information about users and make them more loyal to its website. To see off Microsoft requires something bolder: that Google turn its technology into a new operating system that will run over the internet rather than on a desktop, making Windows irrelevant. As a first step in implementing this vision, Google unveiled Gmail, its new e-mail service, in April, offering huge online storage capacity. The idea is to make money from sending out carefully targeted ads, based on information found in e-mails. But the service is controversial: privacy advocates have accused Google of Big Brother-style snooping. Gmail is still being tried out, but even if Google can put the privacy row and this week's topsy-turvy IPO behind it, the prospect of a battle with Microsoft is not enticing. The company behind Windows has long been adept at copying technologies and then crushing the companies that first developed them. It is also awash with cash. The $1.7 billion that Google has raised from selling a slice of itself on the stockmarket is small change compared with Microsoft’s war chest.

Super happy :) one flight confirmed (cross my fingers that nothing will change):
10/9- NY to Madrid
20/9- Madrid to Cairo
29/9- Cairo to NY
now I need to:
1. Look for a flight from NY-Colombia-Malaysia
2. Buy a laptop (ohhh :( , this is going to be expensive)
3. Secure a project that will be inline with my future plans in Malaysia to be worked on in Colombia (mhm...)
4. Tell my mum about my plans to live in Colombia for 3 months (ohhh, she's not going to be pleased)
5. Start learning Spanish :P
