Summer 2004 in NYC,
Spring in Malaysia & HK
SSC 2004 in Hotlanta- Do you realize!! I wish i was just stepping into @ now, lucky newbies. Of the 2 years I've been here, I am starting to see that we might be able to be want we want to be if we keep this momentum going. I'm a pessimist, nothing is good enough especially when it comes to work, everything can be better. If we keep going, we just might be able to make our @ vision closer to the reality. I know it's a good conference when members come to me after the conference demanding that I get them involve in all the IT stuff asap!! I know we've got visionary members when members actually know can start analyzing and conceptualize what kind of IT stuff we need. I know we've got skilled members when they design websites just like the ones we need right now. I know we might have a budget next year for IT when we are now actually stressing about delivering exchange instead of raising from zilt. All the fun stuff is just beginning. I can't believe that I'm leaving at the peak of what will and can be.... photos: post tour, IT guys and Kai, matching mania, networking night - was a great conference, small delegation, fun training sessions, we even got to tour atlanta on the last day, superb DJ, superb speakers (bravo David Pollay!), its my last but probably the most memorable :).

start of a new beginning - I've started transitioning to Oussama (currently the Salaam IT responsible & my backup) today. It feels great to be able to pass it on to somebody :). Shazly and Ibrahim (both my IT intern for the summer); from Egypt and Dubai both have helped me tremendously with my daily tasks. Both are also working on projects which we've left off for years (!). It's great to be working with people again- all three of them are quick, proactive and hardworking; all the right ingredients :). And there is my beloved Turk! Emir who has helped me survived the past months!! Thanks guys- you are very much appreciated.

Jobs in NYC. My resume is now online with probably 20 million others. 80% of IT jobs in NYC is with financial institutions, banks. An experienced (3 years) developer can fetch a compensation of $80K per annum. An architect (usually with experience of 5 years and above) can fetch a compensation of $115K per annum. A receptionist in a VERY good company can fetch a compensation of $65K. An illegal chinatown waitress can fetch a compensation of $12 an hour. They are all just numbers. They are all for US citizens or green card holders.

Dido ye John Mayer 2 weeks ago, it was raining (not drizzling but pouring), feet soaking in the precious grass of Bryant park, was fun until they had call off the concert becuase it was getting too dangerous for the equipments. American's came to see John Mayer, the internationals came to see Dido. I went to see both. NY offers all kinds of free events almost everyday of the week in the summer- how can you not love this city? Tomorrow is the gay pride parade, i am excited to see what it's like.

first trip to Jones beach this summer with Lucy and Juan, ran 4 miles on the uncrowded broadwalk - perfect for a sunny, breezy Sunday afternoon. Later went to Natives (favourite Colombian restaurant :)) and eat a whole BIG red snapper for dinner.
It's been a while but things are getting in control again :). I've been switching between using manila, then radio now to dasblog for my weblog. It's not as flexible but we'll see how this works out.
It feels like a new beginning.
Went home to Malaysia last month to visit family and friends, stoped over in Hong Kong for a couple of days to visit Janice, came back, the Kai sister's (hehe.. Kai Ling & Kai Wen) came along and stayed for a couple of weeks (yay!!) and went back. Yes, it feels very good to have gone home and have my sisters here for the last month.
Hong Kong :)

Juan took a really nice picture of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia while waiting for the bus one early morning
my cute cousins :)
Work wise, things are stable now. Still not much of development work but I can see it coming :), whether out of @ or in @. Anyways, I've decided to move on from @ and so my position is now open (click here to apply). Many positive things are happening in the national office (lotsa success stories :) but can't really discuss the details here) so it's all good.
Only sad news: one of my hamster (miguel) murdered the other (ziggy). (* oooooooohhhhh *)
when they were still friends :(
And and I got a new laptop- a Toshiba M2 (it's definitely a great pleasure to be able to work on a laptop that doesn't break 3 times a day.)
